Aduana grab Nigerien striker - ahead of CAF Confed. group campaign
Ghana champions, Aduana Stars, have secured the services of Nigerien striker, Boubacar Hainikoye Soumana, to boost the club’s continental campaign at the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Soumana, a member of the Nigerien squad that participated in the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations tournament held in Ghana last September, signed a two-year deal with Aduana from Niger Premier League side, USGN Niamey.
Yesterday, Aduana CEO, Albert Aryeetey Commey, confirmed the capture of the player who played alongside Inter Allies forward, Victorien Adje Adebayor, in the Niger team at the WAFU Cup.
“Boubacar Soumana will join us soon because we are done with the negotiations and the deal has been sealed.
“We watched him play in the WAFU tourney and we realised that he was good.
He was one of the strikers that were terrorising the defence of their opponents and we believe that he will be influential in our squad for Africa,” the Aduana boss confirmed.
The 20-year-old Soumana, who is famously known as Deco among his peers, is expected to arrive in Ghana on Friday to join his new teammates as they prepare for the Confed Cup away fixture with Cote d’Ivoire’s ASEC Mimosa on May 6. Aduana’s other group opponents are Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca and DR Congo’s AS Vita Club.
It will be followed by the second round of group matches on Wednesday, May 16, before a break for the World Cup.
The last four rounds of group games are scheduled for July and August after which the top two teams in each group advance to the quarter-finals in September.
