Aklie triumphs in U-19 boys category at Otumfuo Smash II
Promising Ghanaian table tennis player Israel Aklie delivered an impressive performance to win the Under-19 Boys title at the Otumfuo Smash II Table Tennis Tournament in Kumasi.
Aklie defeated Frederick Mensah in the final with a 3–0 victory to secure the championship in the youth category.
The young talent showed composure and attacking precision throughout the match, controlling key rallies to keep his opponent under pressure and seal the title in straight sets.
En route to the final, Aklie overcame Hamza Issah in the quarter-final before defeating Michael Agyapong Mensah in the semi-final to book his place in the championship match.
Aklie’s triumph adds to a growing list of achievements for the rising star, who has already gained international exposure through several training tours abroad.
In 2024, he emerged champion at the ITTF Africa Continental Hopes Championship in Botswana after defeating all nine of his opponents on his way to winning gold.
With his latest success in Kumasi, Aklie continues to strengthen his reputation as one of Ghana’s most promising young table tennis prospects and a player to watch in the country’s emerging generation of athletes.
