Ampem Darkoa Ladies staged a second-half comeback to defeat Hasaacas Ladies 2–1 and clinch the Women’s Premier League title in a pulsating season finale at the Swedru Sports Stadium, as headline sponsor Malta Guinness reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of women’s football in Ghana.

The decisive encounter, played on Sunday, April 19, drew a large crowd of supporters, students and families, reflecting the rising popularity of the women’s game. Both sides entered the match with high expectations, but it was Hasaacas Ladies who made the brighter start, taking the lead in the eighth minute with a well-worked goal.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies, however, responded with determination and gradually grew into the contest, pressing for an equaliser. Their persistence paid off in the second half when they levelled the score, shifting the momentum and energising their supporters.

The game maintained a high tempo, with both teams displaying tactical discipline and attacking intent. Ampem Darkoa Ladies completed their comeback in the 60th minute, scoring what proved to be the winning goal in a fiercely contested match that went down to the final whistle.

The victory secured the league title for Ampem Darkoa Ladies, marking a significant achievement in a campaign characterised by resilience and consistency.

Speaking at the event, Frank Foli, Brand Manager for Non-Alcoholic Beverages at Castel Afrique, commended the teams for their performance and reiterated Malta Guinness’ continued support for the Women’s Premier League.

He noted that the competition continues to inspire young girls across the country and highlighted the importance of sustained investment in women’s football to drive its development and visibility.

Malta Guinness, which has sponsored the league for four consecutive years, has positioned itself as a key supporter of women’s sport, promoting themes of empowerment, confidence and excellence both on and off the pitch.

The latest finale not only delivered an entertaining contest but also underscored the steady growth of women’s football in Ghana, with increasing fan engagement and corporate backing strengthening the foundation of the sport.
