Appiah assures delegates of better remuneration
A favourite contender in the race for the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) presidency, Eugene Nyarko Appiah, has assured delegates that he will remunerate boxers and officials when he gets the nod.
He reiterated his most important objective of self-financing and constructing an ultra-modern boxing gym in all the 10 regions and communities in the country, adding that that was the only way to make the sport more popular and viable.

The former Black Bomber, who met delegates for the first time in Accra last Thursday, promised to renovate old boxing gyms in Accra, build new ones and also equip existing ones.
“I will consider the remunerations and salaries of boxers and officials in any budget of the federation when budgets are prepared,” the Kumasi-based businessman told a packed crowd of delegates at the Salenko Beach in Accra.
The delegates also took time to interact with and find out more about the 32-year-old stoutly-built boxing enthusiast.
Mr Appiah is being challenged by boxing administrator Gideon Kwartei Quartey.
The meeting also saw other candidates, including Allan Sackey and Benjamin Webster Allotey, who are contesting for the first vice-president position, and Captain Dennis Mahama Adam (retd), who is contesting for the second vice-president position.
