Asamoah Gyan scores sixth goal of Al Ahli loan spell

Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan scored the winning goal for Al Ahli as they pipped Bani Yas 2-1 on the final day of the Arabian Gulf League (AGL) season on Saturday.

Ahli took the lead through Senegalese striker Diop Makhete in the 7th minute at the Al-Rashid Stadium.

However, bottom club Bani Yas were level moments later through Nigerian attacker Ezekiel Henty in the 21st minute.

Both teams went into the break level but Gyan settled the contest in the 53rd minute when he scored the winner.

Gyan, 31, lasted the entire duration of the match and was booked in the 40th minute.

The game was his ninth start in 26 matches for Ahli and he now has an assist and six goals to his name.

Gyan also lost his record 31-goal haul in an AGL season to Al Jazira striker Ali Ahmed Mabkhout, who netted twice in his side's 4-0 win against Al Dhafra.

Ahli ended the season in third place behind second-placed Al Wasl and record 22-time AGL champions Al Jazira.

The former Sunderland and Udinese striker is on-loan at Al Ahli from Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG.
