Ashgold crowned league champions
Accra Great Olympics yesterday bid another farewell to elite football despite coming from behind to beat Ashgold 2-1 at the Accra Sports stadium.
The result did not mean so much to Ashgold as they were already champions and were indeed, given a guard of honour by Olympics ahead of the kick-off.

Olympics supporters were seen wailing. They had only spent just a season in the Premier League but on the other side were Ashgold fans dancing as they celebrated their fourth league triumph after 19 years.
It was two late goals by substitute Agbeshie Doetse which saved the face of Olympics after series of wasted opportunities, including two penalties in each half by Kwame Boateng and Dan Quaye.
The urge to attack began with Olympics in the early minutes of the game when Joshua Oninku raced down the flanks to cross the ball but unmarked Kwame Boateng fluffed the opportunity.
Both played it cautiously but occasionally threatened at the goal and in one of such assault Boateng who was fed through was whacked by Augustine Sefa for a penalty which was saved by goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.
Osei Baffour of Ashgold opened the scores in the 77th minute when he curled the ball beyond goalkeeper goalkeeper Osei Boateng.
Dan Quaye broke the fans heart three minutes later when he wasted a penalty. Howerver, Doetse was the hero when he struck twice in the 88th and 90th minutes.
