Ashie demolishes Kamote

Ghana ' s George Ashie last Friday made a giant stride in his promising boxing career when he knocked out Tanzanian Alan Kamote in the sixth round of the main bout of the bill  at the Accra Sports Stadium.

On the night dubbed ‘fist of fury ‘ Ashie was ruthless with his punches from the start of the bout to the finish, pounding his  opponent into submission in the sixth round.

 Kamote visited the canvass twice, in a one- sided fight which saw the Tanzanian in a defensive posture in all the rounds.

In the sixth round,  Ashie unleashed a powerful right hook to the chin of Kamote, dropping him to the canvas .

The president of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA),  Peter Zwennes,  former world champions, Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey  presented the Interim WBA African Lightweight title to Ashie for his feat.

Ashie  then declared his readiness to fight  age-long  foe  Emmanuel “Game Boy”  Tagoe, to a rematch,  vowing to avenge the defeat he suffered at his hands two years ago,

 Kamote had earlier requested a rematch insisting he was mentally and psychologically ill- prepared for the bout.

In other bouts, George Krampah knocked out Thompson ArapMoi in the fourth round of their featherweight contest while Maxwell Amponsah suffered a first round knockout against Ebenezer Tetteh in their light heavy weight encounter.

 Emmanuel Clottey defeated Emmanuel Laryea through a technical knockout decision in the eighth round in their bantamweight contest while Ayi Ayittey knocked out Eric Kwadey in  the fifth round of their national middleweight contest.

Prince “Octopus” Daniel used 25 seconds to defeat Michael Donkor in their national and West Africa Boxing Union(WABU) bantamweight title bout.
