Police Ladies last Saturday recovered from the disappointment of missing out on last month’s Africa Hockey Club Championship by defeating Reformers 3-2 in the semi-finals of the 2014 Beige Knockout competition.

The victory at the Theodosia Okoh Stadium was secured for Police, courtesy field goals from Nafisatu Umaru, Serwaa Boakye and Cecilia Ofoe, while Gloria Darko and Hagar Laryea pulled two goals back for Reformers.

That win ensured that the Police team, handled by Eric Adjei Obaya, booked a spot in next Saturday’s Beige Knockout final against Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Ladies who secured their place with a 5-0 humbling of Ark Ladies in the other semi-final match.

In the seniors’ semi-finals, Sapholda continued their pursuit of a fourth trophy this year when they trounced NDK Financiers 6-1 to set up a clash with Multistix who accounted for Veterans with a 5-2 win.

In the male division, Trustees, bronze winners at the Africa Club Hockey Championship, survived a late scare from the male side of Reformers to progress to the final, courtesy a 2-1 scoreline.

George Asiedu and Benjamin Taylor smashed home penalty corners for Trustees in the 24th and 32nd minutes before Sarpong Yeboah set up a tensed finish with a beautifully worked field goal for Reformers in the 68th minute. Trustees will play GRA in the final after the latter defeated Golden Sticks 2-1 in a late tie.

Young Financiers will battle free-scoring Real Ambassadors in the final after beating Tema Manhean 1-0, while Ambassadors defeated La Juniors 7-0 in the other semi-final of the juniors’ division.
