AWCON 2018: Toure double downs Black Queens

The Black Queens of Ghana will now have to win their final group match of the ongoing Women African Cup of Nations against Cameroon after losing 1-2 to their Malian counterparts yesterday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Queens were consigned to the heartbreaking loss by Woman of the Match Bassira Toure in the 75th minute - after she had earlier traded penalties with Ghanaian substitute Elizabeth Addo.
The tie was decided by Toure's close range finish - after Ghana goalie Patricia Mantey made a mess of a set-piece leaving her unmarked to slam home a shot past the legs of some Ghanaian defenders.
The diminutive Toure dusted off herself to convert from the penalty spot in the 24th minute to score the first goal of the game and hand Mali a 1-0 half time lead.
She left Swazi official Leticia Antonella Viana with no choice than to point to the spot after Ghana goalie Patricia Mantey hauled down Toure in the penalty box.
This was after slippery Malian playmaker Aissata Traore raced into the box after capitalising on a loose ball, leaving Gladys Amfobea and Faustina Ampah in her wake before passing to Toure who drew Mantey into fouling her.
Toure made no mistake from the spot, displacing Mantey before firing a low show to the right end of the post.
