Azumah cautions Dogboe against Mexican

Three-time world boxing champion, Azumah Nelson, has sounded a note of caution to Isaac Dogbe, warning him about the resilience of Mexican fighters as the Ghanaian prepares to fight undefeated Cesar Juarez for the WBO Interim Super Bantamweight title at the Bukom Boxing Arena on January 6.

Nelson, early in his career, lost his first world title bid to the undefeated legendary Mexican fighter, Salvador Sanchez, but recovered from that loss to defeat several Mexican fighters on his way to claiming the WBC featherweight belt and the WBC super-featherweight title on two occasions.

The Professor (as Nelson is nicknamed) defeated stubborn Mexican pugilists such as Marcos Villasana (twice), Mario Martinez and Gabriel Reulas and on account of that has offered some tips to Dogbe as he bids to better his fight record (17-0, 11 KOs).

According to him, Dogbe needs to work on his defence in order to carry the day when he fights Juarez (20-5, 15 KOs) at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

"Isaac Dogbe is okay; he is a good boxer and he knows what he is doing so we just have to pray for him," Nelson told the Graphic Sports in an interview.

"You know, Mexicans are not afraid of punches; they just come and throw punches. He just has to block the punches and dodge the punches in order to win".

Nelson also described Dogbe as one of the brightest prospects who are likely to win a world title in 2018 with good guidance from his trainers.
