B/A, G/A win Airtel Rising Stars titles
Brong-Ahafo and Greater Accra grassroot teams lifted the male and female trophies of the 2015 edition of the Airtel Rising Stars competition after going past their Northern and Ashanti Regional rivals in a fiercely-contested grand finale held at the Sunyani Coronation Park last weekend.
The lads from Brong-Ahafo capitalised on their status as hosts of this year’s finals after failing to qualify from the zonal competitions to beat favourites, Northern Region, by one goal to nil in an electrifying atmosphere where the chants of “B. A, B. A” by the home fans spurred them on to victory.

In the female division, the Greater Accra ladies defeated Ashanti ladies 4-1 in a penalty shootout after both teams failed to break the deadlock in regulation time.
The technical study team, led by the Ghana Football Association Technical Director, Francis Oti Akenten, and aided by Airtel Rising Stars coaching ambassadors, E.K Afranie and Ibrahim Sunday, adjudged Sulemana Mohammed of the Brong-Ahafo team and Blessing Shine Agbomadzi from Ashanti Region as the Overall best male and female players respectively for Airtel Rising Stars 2015.
The Sales Director at Airtel Ghana, Mr Samuel Sarpong, in his closing remarks acknowledged the efforts of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Education, the coaches and players for making this year’s tournament a success.
