Badminton Executives boost team’s spirit ahead of Botswana All-Africa Championship

Executives of the Ghana Badminton Association (GBA) have paid a morale-boosting visit to the national men’s team currently in camp at the Borteyman Sports Complex, as preparations intensify for the 2026 All-Africa Senior Badminton Championship, scheduled to be held in Botswana from February 9 to 15.

The visit took place at the Borteyman Sports Complex, where GBA President, Mr. Evans Yeboah, accompanied by Executive Committee members Mrs. Evelyn Nsiah Asare and Miss Sefacor Sembia, interacted with the players and the technical team.

As a show of support ahead of the championship, the delegation presented the team with water, drinks, fruits, and snacks.

Addressing the players, Mr Evans Yeboah explained the purpose of the visit, stating: “We are here this morning as a board to check on your welfare and also to encourage and motivate you as you prepare for the journey ahead. It is important for us to be close to you and to let you know that we are fully behind you in the days leading to the championship.”

Mrs Evelyn Nsiah Asare reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to the team, saying: “On behalf of the board, we want you to know that we have your interest at heart and we support everything you are doing.

"We felt it was important to come closer, see how you are faring, and understand your needs. This is just a small token to show our belief in your abilities, and we are confident you will deliver when you represent Ghana,” she said.

Team captain Ahmad Samad Abdul expressed appreciation on behalf of the players, noting: “First of all, I would like to thank the President, Mr Evans Yeboah, Mrs Evelyn Nsiah Asare, and our hardworking Treasurer for taking time out of their busy schedules to visit us."

"We are gradually making progress under the guidance of our coach, and the players are responding positively. We are confident that when we get to Botswana, we will give off our best,” he added.

The team will be led by Head Coach Ocansey Ahumah, with Francis Yeboah serving as Team Manager.

Players currently in camp include Adogley Samuel Kwaku, Obeng-Shang Francis, Korampong Kwame Ebenezer, Reuben Teye Tetteh, and captain Ahmad Samad Abdul.
