Sports Minister, SWAG Secretary for 2026 AIPS Africa Congress in Gambia
Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Iddie Adams, is expected to be a special guest at the 8th Association of International Sports Press (AIPS) Africa Congress, scheduled to take place in Banjul, Gambia, from February 6 to 9, 2026.
Also attending on behalf of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) is its Secretary General, Charles Osei Asibey.
Other high-profile guests billed for the congress include Gambian President Adama Barrow, AIPS President Gianni Merlo, Sports Ministers from Senegal, Mali and Nigeria, as well as other prominent continental sports icons.
The congress will be held at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre under the theme:
“Digital Media, AI, and Ethical Journalism in Africa.”
The event will bring together sports journalists and key stakeholders from across the continent to deliberate, collaborate, and shape the future of African sports journalism.
It will also provide opportunities for participants to learn, network, and grow professionally, ultimately strengthening sports journalism in Africa.
Over the years, AIPS has played a crucial role in protecting the rights of sports journalists, promoting professionalism and ethical standards, building capacity, and creating platforms for learning, networking, and the overall development of sports journalism.
Ghana hosted the 6th AIPS Africa Congress in Accra two years ago.
