Black Queens to face Côte d’Ivoire in friendly

The Black Queens of Ghana are set to play two crucial international friendly matches against Côte d'Ivoire as part of their preparations for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The friendly fixtures, scheduled for May 30 and June 3, 2025, will both be played away and are expected to provide valuable match experience for the national women’s team as they gear up for the continental championship, which kicks off on July 5 to 26, 2025.

The Head Coach of the team, Kim Lars Björkegren, who has been actively preparing the team since March, through a series of friendlies and training camps, has named a 24-player full-strength squad for the match.

The two fixtures against Côte d'Ivoire mark the third and fourth international matches of the year for the Black Queens, following a two-legged friendly series against Senegal last month.

The squad

Coach Björkegren has retained the core of the squad that travelled to Senegal and introduced some new faces following recent impressive performances during a training camp at the GFA Technical Centre in Prampram.

New call-ups include Ampem Darkoa Ladies midfielder, Nancy Amoh, and Northern Ladies goalkeeper, Afi Amenyaku, both earning their maiden invitations to the senior team.

Abigail Kofi Kim (Ankara BB Fomget, Turkey) and former Black Princesses defender, Louisa Animwaa (Valadares, Portugal), have also received their first senior call-ups.

Additionally, Grace Acheampong (TP Mazembe) and Alice Kusi (Al Ahli, Saudi Arabia) make a return to the national team after a period of absence.
