The Starlets have been invited alongside Spain, Switzerland and the host nation for the special UEFA tournament and they are expected to jet off to Serbia ahead for the tournament which starts on April 11.

Prior to that, the national under-17 side might play an international friendly in Saudi Arabia, a game the Graphic Sports understands was arranged by the FA president, Kurt Okraku, to offer the players a platform to market themselves.

Already, the team is in camp at Prampram preparing for the tournament and a close source hinted Graphic Sports that the exercise could be the end for this batch of players following a decision to invite a new set of players after the trip.

According to the source, the Saudi Arabia game is primarily to afford the players an opportunity to be recruited by interested clubs abroad.

''They have a four-nation tournament they are going to play in Serbia and that one is for those who were born in 2007, but just after the tournament next month, the group will be dissolved for a new set of Under-17 players born in 2008/2009.

''But for now, they are in camp preparing for that tournament. They are going to Saudi Arabia and from there to Serbia for the tournament,' the source explained.

The source said the team in camp now included players who failed the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test prior to the Under-17 African Youth Championship qualifiers.

''I understand Spain, Switzerland, Ghana and Serbia are playing in the four-nation tournament which starts on the 11th of next month. Some of the boys who failed the MRI scan but fall within the age range of 2007 are also in camp,' the source noted.
