Black Stars to play Russia in friendly

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the Black Stars could play against Russia the host of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in an international friendly on September 6, in Moscow.

The Communications Director of the GFA, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, told the media that the game would be used as part of preparations ahead of the qualifiers for the world football tournamnent.

“Though no official agreement has been reached, there is the possibility that Ghana will play the 2018 World Cup host in September, ”  Saanie Daara stated, adding that, “We are talking to many countries but Russia seem likely”.

“Russia is a big football nation and we are yet to reach an agreement with them but when everything is done, we will announce it to the public,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Football Union of Russia has named a 23-man squad for the friendly with the Stars.

Coach of the Russia national team, the Golden Eagles, Stanislav Cherchesov, disclosed that the players would participate in a warm-up game against Turkey on August 31 in Antalya ahead of the Stars game.
