Boison chases DOL ticket for GFA

Former football star, Justice Kofi Boison has stepped up to contest for one of the Division One League (DOL) spots of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in the upcoming elections.

Boison, also known in football circles as Alaa, is in pole position to pick an ExCo slot in order to bring his rich experience to bear as Ghana football enters another phase following the recent reforms.

Mr Boison, aside being an astute financial accountant, has seen it all as a footballer and administrator. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cape Coast Venomous Vipers, having played for the club as a dependable central defender from 1983 to 1987. He also had a short stint with Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs from 1992 to 1994.

Prior to his exploits with Dwarfs, Mr Boison, one of the best centre backs the local league has ever produced in his era, also featured for Sekondi Hasaacas Football Club from 1987 to 1990. He also had stints with Romanian side, Dinamo Bucharest, from 1991 to 1992, as a professional footballer.

The 57-year old accountant, who is married with two children, earned a call-up to the senior national team, Black Stars, in 1993 after the team failed to win the 1992 AFCON in Senegal.

The ExCo aspirant was the financial secretary for Vipers between 1996 and 2001, and is currently the Accra representative of the once-dreaded traditional club.

Mr Boison presently holds an Executive MBA (Finance option) from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon, and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Cape Coast.
