Rising amateur golfer Ayisha Amidu, playing off a handicap of 23, returned with 40 points to win the ladies' division. She was closely followed by fellow compatriot Jennifer Satura, who scored 39 points with a handicap of 33. Juliet Ayisu finished third with 33 points and a handicap of 30.

In the men’s division, Maxwell Acheampong claimed victory with 39 points, playing off a handicap of nine. He was followed closely by John Asiaw, also with a handicap of nine and a score of 38 points. Joshua Amarh, playing off a handicap of seven, also finished with 38 points but was beaten on countback by Asiaw.

The two girls, Ayisha and Jennifer, are beneficiaries of the Captain One Golf Society Kids Project, which aims to discover golfing talent among the underprivileged and vulnerable in golfing communities across the country. Both girls hail from the Safe-Child Advocacy in Kumasi and are registered with the Royal Golf Club under the mentorship of professional golfer Yaw Barima Okyere.

Ayisha has enjoyed a successful year, winning several major competitions, including the Latex Foam Medal in May at the Royal Golf Club, finishing second at the Ohum tournament at Tafo Golf Club in Koforidua, and competing in the Pan African Tournament at the Nsuta Golf and Country Club.

After her victory, a delighted Ayisha said, “It’s a dream come true to compete on such a big stage and win. The competition was tough, but I’m glad to have emerged as the winner.”

She added that the win would boost her confidence ahead of future competitions, as she continues to work towards becoming the best female golfer in Ghana. She expressed her gratitude to Captain One Golf Society for their support and the opportunity to play golf, as well as to her coach, Yaw Barima Okyere, for his guidance.

Captain One Golf Society, through its president Pius Ayeh Appiah, is appealing to well-meaning Ghanaians and corporate organisations to support their programs, which offer young, talented Ghanaian children an alternative livelihood through golf.
