CAS upholds lifetime ban for Referee Joseph Lamptey
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has upheld the decision of FIFA's Disciplinary Committee to hand Ghanaian match referee Joseph Lamptey a lifetime ban for match manipulation.
Lamptey was banned by FIFA for manipulating the result of the 2018 World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Senegal played in November last year.

He awarded a bizarre penalty in the 43rd minute to the South Africa to break the deadlock.
Lamptey was initially banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level for life, a verdict which was upheld by CAS.
The official was found guilty of breaching article 69 paragraph 1 (unlawfully influencing match results) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ qualifying match between South Africa and Senegal on 12 November 2016.
He appealed that verdict but after further investigations, the Appeals Committee of FIFA has upheld the decision to ban him for life.
