Coach Dramani unfazed by injury setbacks in Hearts

Accra Hearts of Oak Coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has said his team remains focused on making every match count despite injuries to some key players.

Speaking to the club’s official website ahead of their league clash with Heart of Lions today, the Phobians’ trainer revealed that several players had been sidelined due to injuries and illness, but insisted that the team was working hard to fill the gaps.

“We have lost Abdul Aziz, Hussein Mohammed and Ali Mohammed to injuries since the season started. Their absence has created a void, but we are working tirelessly to fill that void,” Coach Dramani said.

He explained that Hussein Mohammed, who sustained an injury in their second game against Dreams FC, had started light training and was making progress towards full recovery.

“Hussein has trained halfway, and we hope that by Monday, he should be fully fit so he can start getting some minutes,” he added.

Coach Dramani further disclosed that Ali Mohammed, who was injured in the 27th minute of their game against Eleven Wonders, and Abdul Aziz, who picked up a knock before the season began, are still unavailable for selection.

Aside from the injury concerns, the Hearts boss also revealed that a few players had recently battled illness, including David Afranie, who was diagnosed with malaria.

“We also have some sicknesses in the team — David Afranie had malaria — but we are taking good care of them. Despite these setbacks, we are preparing very well and trimming the rough edges,” he said.

Hearts of Oak will be hoping to maintain their momentum and continue their impressive form as they face Heart of Lions in what promises to be an entertaining encounter today.
