Otto Addo not worried about job security
Black Stars Coach Otto Addo has said he is not worried about the possibility of losing his job after leading Ghana to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He insisted that his main focus was to ensure the team’s qualification rather than his personal future.
Speaking to Ghanafa.org, the coach said his only concern was to make Ghanaians happy by qualifying for the tournament and not what might happen to his position afterwards.
“What happens after is not in my hands. I hope that a lot of people, if we win, can go to America. We have to win this game. This is what we are looking at. If Ghanaians are happy, then we are happy,” Addo responded to a question on calls for his dismissal after qualification.
The former Borussia Dortmund scout has been under intense criticism in recent weeks, especially after Ghana’s 1-1 draw with bottom-placed Chad in September delayed the team’s early qualification hopes.
The Chadians equalised late in the game through Ecua Celestin, prompting widespread criticism of Otto Addo’s tactics and calls for his dismissal on social media.
However, the coach remained calm about the situation, saying he preferred to concentrate on helping the team achieve its goal.
Despite the backlash, the Black Stars have since bounced back strongly and secured their qualification after beating Comoros 1 - 0 in their final group match at the Accra Sports Stadium yesterday.
