Boxing: Best of Bukom returns with social twist
Boxing’s newest promotional powerhouse, Bishop Boxing Promotions (BBP), is set to usher in 2026 with a bang, and a bold new idea that fuses sport, entertainment and social impact.
Following a highly successful and well-attended debut in Accra on August 23, the outfit led by American businessman and philanthropist Dave Bishop has announced the return of its flagship show, “Best of Bukom 2”, on New Year’s Day 2026.
The event promises to be even bigger, bolder and more electrifying — a true celebration of Ghanaian boxing excellence and nightlife culture.
However, this time, the thrills won’t stop in the ring. In a groundbreaking move, BBP has introduced a mandatory community service clause for all fighters contracted to feature on its future shows — a first in Ghanaian boxing history.
Under the new rule, every boxer will be required to complete eight hours of community service as part of their professional commitments.
With some of Ghana’s brightest prospects lined up to feature, “Best of Bukom 2” promises to raise the bar for sports entertainment while setting a new benchmark for corporate social responsibility in Ghanaian boxing.
Mr Bishop described the initiative as a reflection of the promotional outfit’s belief that boxing could be a powerful vehicle for social change.
“This isn’t just about fight nights; it’s about giving back,” he told Graphic Sports. “Punching above and beyond; that’s our mantra. Bishop Boxing Promotions’ new community service initiative ensures our boxers make a difference in and out of the ring. Let’s inspire change,” he stated.
He added that “Best of Bukom 2” would offer a one-of-a-kind boxing experience that would merge sport, culture and nightlife into an unforgettable New Year celebration.
“This isn’t just a boxing match; it’s a fusion of nightlife culture and heart-pounding action! Experience the thrill of live boxing like never before, surrounded by an atmosphere that ignites excitement and camaraderie,” Mr Bishop said.
“We are thrilled to present an extraordinary way to ring in the New Year — a celebration that blends boxing, culture and entertainment. Don’t miss your chance to be part of it.”
