Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe backs Andre Ayew's return to Black Stars

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) chairman, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has strongly advocated for the inclusion of Andre Dede Ayew in the Black Stars squad, insisting the veteran forward still has a crucial role to play in the national team.

According to the experienced football administrator, the 36-year-old possesses the experience currently lacking in the team and could make a significant impact if recalled.

Speaking to the Graphic Sports in an interview yesterday, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said Ayew's vast experience at the highest level of international football, including multiple FIFA World Cup appearances, makes him an invaluable asset to the Black Stars.

"They need an experienced player, and that is Dede Ayew. I watched the game against Mexico, and you could see that they lacked experience," he stated.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe questioned why Ayew continues to be overlooked despite remaining active in professional football, drawing comparisons with global stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who continue to represent their national teams despite being in the latter stages of their careers.

"Look at Ronaldo and Messi at their age, and they are still playing. Why should we drop Dede when he is actively playing football?" he asked.

The outspoken football administrator also expressed confidence in newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, describing him as a highly experienced tactician with an impressive coaching résumé.

Having observed some of the coach's training sessions and videos, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said he believed Queiroz had the credentials to help transform the national team.

He noted that Queiroz would not be the first Portuguese coach to handle the Black Stars and cited the successful stint of Mariano Barreto as a reason for optimism.

"The previous Portuguese coach, Mariano Barreto, did well, so I believe Queiroz can also perform," he said.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe further called on Ghanaians to support the new coach and urged GFA president Kurt Simeon-Okraku to allow Queiroz the freedom to carry out his duties without interference.

"He should be allowed to do his work. No one should force decisions on him," he advised.
