The CEO of Dwarfs, Nana Aidoo, who broke the news to the Daily Graphic last Monday, explained that the club decided to relieve Sarpong of his post for non-performance.

According to him, a letter to that effect would be communicated to Coach Sarpong later on Monday.

He said before arriving at the decision last Sunday after their 0-3 loss to Kotoko in Kumasi, management took into consideration the fact that Dwarfs are currently bottom of the table with just nine points out of a possible 33 points from the 11 matches played so far.

He further revealed that the club had secured the services of a top CAF Licence ‘A’ coach, who is a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, to restore its fortunes.

Nana Aidoo also hinted of the recruitment of some quality players, including former Hearts striker, Gilbert Fiamenyo, to help transform the club.

It will be recalled that Dwarfs signed on Coach Sarpong two seasons ago in a desperate bid to escape relegation. However, despite failing to survive, management kept faith with him to qualify the club back to the premiership which he did after an impressive run in the Division One League (DOL) last season.
