Eric Amankwah laid to rest
The memorial and burial ceremony for the late Eric Asare Amankwah, a former midfielder of the Black Stars and defunct Akosombo Akotex, was held at the forecourt of the Akosombo Community Centre over the weekend.
The Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman Mr Kofi Osei Ameyaw, and the District Chief Executive Mr Thomas Ampem Nyarko, were among the dignitaries who mourned with the bereaved family.
Also in attendance were Coach J.E Adabie and former players, including Eric Kodi, Oheneba Siaw, Kayode, Labosa, Yaw Charles, Bediako, Gariba, Atsu Pepe, Ali Braimah, Gideon Asante, Korle Laryea and Fred Neequaye.
In a tribute, Mr Kofi Osei Ameyaw recalled the commitment and dedication of the late soccer star anytime he featured for the Black Stars, saying, it was such patrotism that propelled the team to chalk many victories for the country.
For his part, the DCE for Asuogyaman Mr. Ampem Nyarko admonished young talented footballers to always let the spirit of nationalism, obedience and respect be their guarding principle which was the trump card of Eric Amankwah during his life time.
