The burly striker has been the Phobians’ standout player this season and yesterday he cemented his chase for the Premier League’s top scorer award with a goal in either half to jump into pole position in the goal-king race with eight goals.

Until yesterday’s heroics, Fiamenyo was tied at the top of the chart with six goals alongside AshantiGold’s Mohammed Yakubu and four others. However, after sinking struggling BA United, the Heart hit man will be eyeing a personal glory this season.

The 22-year-old, whose goal earned Hearts a qualification ticket for the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup, fired Hearts into the lead in the 37th minute before cementing the win five minutes from time.

The victory moved Hearts up to the eighth position with 15 points just behind Medeama SC, who defeated New Edubiase United 3-0 at Tarkwa.

Hearts’ city rivals, Great Olympics, recorded their first away victory of the season after defeating Liberty Professionals 1-0 at the Carl Reindorf Park at Dansoman, reports Kwame Larweh.

Three days after saving Olympics’ MTN FA Cup campaign, veteran goalie, Richard Kingson, was instrumental in his side’s victory after putting up a show to deny Liberty a goal.

A stunning volley from striker Dotse Agbeshie in the 40th minute was all that the Wonder Club needed to snatch a hard-fought  victory from the Scientific Soccer lads, who have lost twice at home in the ongoing premiership.

Liberty had  more ball possession and the clearerst chance to snatch the opener in the 25th minute as striker Charles Dwamena had only goalkeeper Kingson to beat, but his inability to control the ball saw his effort wasted.

The victory sent the motley supporters of the visiting team into wild jubilation.

Meanwhile, Coach David Duncan began his stint with Kotoko on a bright note after guiding them to beat Bechem United 3-1 away from home.

Two goals from Michael Akuffo and a goal by Ahmed Toure secured all three points for the Porcupine Warriors at the Bechem Park.

Midfielder, Noah Martey, however, got the only consolation for the home side.

Since his well-publicised move to Kotoko, Duncan’s presence on the team’s technical bench must have sparked a revival in the fortunes of the Porcupine Warriors, who have moved up the league log to the 10th position after only their third victory of the season.

Last week, the former Hearts coach inspired Kotoko to a scoreless draw against Algerian side MC El Eulma in the CAF Champions League second round first leg match, thus raising the hopes of the club’s fans that Duncan’s arrival would turn the club’s dwindling fortunes around.
