GCA Division 1 and 2 Leagues: Week 4 thrills

The fourth week of the Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) Division 1 and 2 leagues delivered thrilling encounters, with Evolve CC and BGC emerging victorious in Division 1. At the same time, Defenders and Bangla Tigers claimed wins in Division 2.

Division 1

In the day's opening match, Evolve CC thrashed MMG. Opting to field after winning the toss, MMG restricted Evolve to 131/7 in 20 overs, thanks to crucial middle-order contributions. However, MMG's batting unit faltered, scoring 97 runs in 17.5 overs. Elijah Afula was the star performer, claiming 3/15 in 4 overs and earning the Player of the Match.

In the second match, BGC edged past GT. GT posted 84/9 in 15 overs, courtesy of a truncated innings due to rain. BGC successfully chased the target, scoring 85/6 in 12 overs, with Devender Singh leading the charge and earning the Player of the Match.

Division 2

Defenders dominated Swami Sports Club, winning by a significant margin. Defenders posted 157/7 in 20 overs, while Swami Sports could only manage 57 runs, being bowled out in 17.4 overs.

In the other match, Bangla Tigers outplayed Champions United. Bangla Tigers scored 65/4 in 11.2 overs, and Champions United managed 61/8 in 11.2 overs, chasing a revised target of 75 runs due to rain. Ah Shahed's impressive performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

The next round of matches is scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2025, at the Achimota Cricket Oval.
