GFA introduces project for girls football

Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has announced that the FA will soon establish the “Live your goals campaign” for girls in schools and communities as part of ongoing efforts to expand the interests in women’s football in the country.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to expand the interest and participation rate in women’s football, as well as to develop the footballing skills of girls from a young age, we will establish the 'Live Your Goals Campaign' for girls in schools and communities,” he said.

Nyantakyi announced this in Tamale last Tuesday at the extra-ordinary congress of the GFA where he was re-elected unopposed as president for another four years.

He went unopposed after the other contestants, Ofeibia Ramatu and George Ankomah, failed to submit their nominations before the stipulated deadline.

He said the GFA would tap the expertise of the giant women football countries on the implementation for a long term plan which aimed at enhancing the development of women’s football in Ghana, as well as working hard to improve standards, hinting his outfit would also start the process of getting the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence operational to ensure that the National U-17 players were honed at the academy at Prampram from an early age. —GNA
