The trio will be among the 500 athletes who have converged in Portland, Oregon, USA to compete for medals in track and field's first major event ahead of this year's Olympics in Rio, Brazil.

The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) is convinced the performances of these three athletes so far in the indoor event, gives great hope for Ghana to get her name on the medals table.

Philipina Frimpong, the General Secretary of the GAA, in an interview with the Graphic Sports, said the association remained optimistic about a good showing in Portland due to the athletes' performance, particularly, in indoor events.

"All three athletes have been in very good shape, breaking some records and making decent wins in their indoor events. This definitely gives an indication of their readiness for the world challenge and we are sure they will mount the podiums to be decorated with medals," she said.

The president of the GAA, Prof Francis Dodoo will join Coach Andrew Owusu and the three athletes for the event which starts tomorrow and ends on Sunday.

Owusu-Agyepong, ranked seventh in the world and first in Africa, holds the national record in 60m ran at a time of 7.18 secs set at the Gotham Cup in New York last January as well as the 200m indoor event with a 23.34 secs.

The 26-year old star, is brimming with confidence to bag a medal despite the stiff competition she will encounter in Portland.

Dasor,23 years, also holds the national 400m indoor record after running a personal best 46.21 secs which also earned him a ticket to Portland. Dasor’s time broke the old national record of 46.60s set by Solomon Amegatcher in 1993

Safo Antwi, also goes into the competition as the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix champion, winning the 60m event and topped it up with a third place finish at the British Championships were he secured his ticket to Portland.
