Ghana makes debut at FIFS World Cup 2024 in Trabzon, Turkey

Ghana has made its maiden appearance at the prestigious 15th Senior and 1st Junior World Cup of the Federation International Football Skating (FIFS) 2024, held in Trabzon, Turkey. 

The historic debut marks a milestone for the country in the world of football skating.

Leading the Ghanaian delegation, President Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportufe, accompanied by General Secretary Prosper Ashiquaye Doku and Vice President Godfrey William Amarteifio, arrived in Turkey in high spirits, eager to showcase their talent and commitment to the sport. 

The country presented a junior team for the first-ever junior tournament at the FIFS World Cup, demonstrating Ghana’s focus on developing football skating among its youth.

The junior team, primarily made up of players from the SWAT Skate Club based at the Greater Accra Regional Police Station, has gained recognition for their enthusiasm and potential. Despite facing tough competition from more seasoned teams, the junior skaters are looking to gain invaluable international experience, foster global connections, and further develop their skills on the rink.

In addition to participating in the competition, the Ghanaian delegation is set to attend the FIFS congress, where representatives from various nations will discuss the growth and progress of football skating worldwide. This congress offers Ghana a platform to share its experiences, learn from others, and contribute to the development of the sport on a global scale.

President Kportufe expressed optimism about Ghana’s participation: "We are excited and thrilled to make our debut at the FIFS World Cup. This is an eye-opener for young people, especially women, and we aim to grow the sport with them. This marks a significant step in our journey to promote and develop football skating in Ghana. We look forward to learning from this experience and using it as a foundation for future success."

As Ghana’s football skating community continues to flourish, this historic appearance at the FIFS World Cup is seen as a crucial step in the country’s dedication to the roller sport.
