A total of 67-members of the GFA voted in favour of the continuous suspension of Ashgold while 17 members voted against the motion.

The suspension was effected under Article 17(1) of the GFA Statutes due to the club’s involvement with banned officials, namely Dr. Kwaku Frimpong and Emmanuel Frimpong over a violation of GFA and FIFA statutes.

While Dr. Kwaku Frimpong, who is the bankroller of the club, was handed a 10-year ban from all football-related activities and fined GH¢100,000, his son and Managing Director of the club, Emmanuel Frimpong, was given an eight-year ban by the GFA for their involvement in sports betting and alleged match manipulation.

In accordance with both the GFA and FIFA Statutes, members of the association, clubs, players, referees and all participants in football shall not deal and engage in any football related activities with the Ashgold or their banned officials.
