Ghana secures hosting rights for 2027 U-20 AFCON
Ghana has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2027 edition of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, following an announcement by the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku on social media.
Mr Simeon-Okraku, who is also CAF Vice President, shared the news in a Facebook post, marking another significant milestone in the country’s growing reputation as a host of top-tier continental competitions.
"2027 U-20 Boys AFCON to be hosted by Ghana," he stated.
The tournament will bring together Africa’s finest young talents, providing a platform for the next generation of stars to showcase their abilities on a global stage.
Ghana, a nation with a proud tradition in youth football, is no stranger to success at this level. The Black Satellites remain one of Africa’s most decorated teams in the competition, having won the title multiple times, including their historic triumph at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009.
Hosting the 2027 U-20 AFCON is expected to further boost football development in the country while contributing to infrastructure growth and local economic activity.
It also presents another opportunity for Ghana to demonstrate its organisational strength, following the successful hosting of several CAF and FIFA tournaments in the past.
Further details regarding venues, dates, and logistics are expected to be announced by the Confederation of African Football in due course.
