Citing South Africa and Asian giants, Japan and Korea, the NDPC insisted the hosting of the World Cup was part of a grand plan by such countries to improve on their infrastructure.

The Director General of the NDPC, Dr Nii Moi Thompson, said at a day’s seminar for the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi.

The seminar was to obtain the buy-in of the chiefs and traditional leaders on how to implements Ghana’s longest Developmental Plan.

The World Cup proposal is yet to be made official to players in the industry, but Dr Thompson said once the framework was adopted by the country, it would be binding on successive governments.

The 40 year plan, which was launched in August last year officially, takes effect from 2018 to 2057, when Ghana would be celebrating its 100th independence anniversary.
