Ghana to host West African Zone One Triathlon Champs on Nov 11
Ghana will host nine African Countries in the maiden edition of the West African Zone One Triathlon Championship from November 9-11, 2018 at the University of Ghana poolside.
This historic championship will see the nine countries battling in the sprint race series which are 750m swimming competition, 20km biking, 5km run and also there will be competition for kids between the ages of 8-12 years, and with the kid’s category which is divided into two main groups that is kids and teens, the kids will battle in 200m swimming, 2.5km biking, 1km run whiles the teens will contest in 300m swimming, 5km biking race and 2.5km run.
According to the President of the Ghana Triathlon Federation Mr. Bawa Fuseini, their aim is to put Ghana on the global stage.
“Our main motive is to host a very colourful and successful event and project Ghana to the international standard, in fact, next year if we get an approval from the ministry of Youth and Sports it will be a dream come true to host the 2019 African Triathlon championship here in Ghana and after this November event we will also organize one in Ada in December and early next year, we will storm Kumasi with another competition” Bawa Fuseini told Kasapa FM’s Alexander Anyankwaa.
In addition, there will a two-day training programme for officiating officials for the said championship.
The Ghana Triathlon Federation has made a tremendous mark since it was established and has also organized many fruitful events shaping the dreams of many athletes.
