Golf: Gold Fields PGA tees-off
The seventh edition of the Golf Fields Professional Golfers Association (PGA) tournament has teed-off with 29 golfers vying for honours at the Damang Golf Club in the Western region.
Pairings
Teeing-off the opening day of competition today was former champion and last year's second-placed golfer Emos Korblah who was grouped with James Larry in the opening round.
The 2017 and 2018 winner Kojo Barnni will play with Enoch Owusu and Charles Chichi, another two-time winner Vincent Torgah has been grouped with Frank Asorgbah Godwin Sai while Akwasi Prempeh, Robert Dedge and John Mawuli face off.
There will be no cut-off over the course of the 4-day tournament which ends on Saturday.
Commendation
The Captain of the PGA Ghana, Mr John Mawuli in brief comments expressed gratitude to Gold Fields for sponsoring the flagship tournament despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the decision to allow the tournament to go ahead was proof of Gold Fields commitment to the development of professional golf in Ghana.
The Director of Operations of the PGA Ghana, Mr Ahmed Padori urged all the golfers to avail themselves for media interviews irrespective of how they fare on the course.
Hole-in-one Prize
The organisers also announced a GHS20,000 cash prize will also be won by any golfer that is able to make a hole-in-one shit on hole seven and 17 respectively.
