GUSA prez advocates merger of tertiary schools
Dr Joseph Kwesi Ogah, President of the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA), has advocated the merger of all tertiary schools associations to be called Amalgamation of Tertiary Education Sports Associations (ATESA).
He said his proposal, if implemented, would go a long way to strengthen the various sports associations at the tertiary level, as well as ensure the smooth organisation of sports in the institutions.

Mr Ogah was giving a solidarity message at the congress of Colleges of Education Student Associations (COESA) at Our Lady of Apostles College of Education in Cape Coast.
He said GUSA was in the process of collaborating with other tertiary institutions to ensure that teams to represent Ghana at international competitions were selected from the various tertiary institutions.
He suggested that COESA examine its status as a tertiary education association with regard to sports management since the colleges had Physical Education teachers, but not coaches, adding that the model had to be developed to manage sports.
Dr Samuel Lartey of the University of Cape Coast appealed to the government to give something substantial in the running of sports activities since money given to the association was woefully inadequate.
Officers elected were Dr Mrs Harriet Amui, President, Mr Musa Yamba Issahaku, Vice President, and Mr Richmond Sorkpor, Secretary General.
Mr John Listowell Zhevu and Mr Dauda Adamu were elected Treasurer and Technical Chairman respectively .

Mr Luke Abugri, former president of the association, commended the members for their contributions and asked them to give the necessary co-operation to the new executives.
