‘Hearts pulling the crowd’

Vincent Odotei Sowah, chairman of the Strategic Management Committee of Accra Hearts of Oak, has disclosed that the club bagged GH¢102,215.00 (gross) as gate proceeds from the last Premier League game against Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to him, Value Added Tax (VAT), National Sports Authority share of the proceeds and other deductions would be taken out from the amount and the rest paid into the club’s coffers.

Mr Odotei, who said the money was an improvement over what was realised during the team’s first home match against New Edubiase a month ago at the same venue, added that management was grateful to the teeming supporters of the club for coming out in their numbers to cheer the players on to victory.

On pressure from the fans to annex this year’s league title, he said it was too early to talk about winning the league as their focus now was on rebranding and making the club competitive to ensure that they maintained the current impressive performance without any impediment.

“What people must know is that before you satisfy your customers or external stakeholders, your employees and internal stakeholders must be satisfied so that is the policy we are adopting right now.

“We are motivating them and making sure that the team is very competitive by making sure that the workers are rewarded and treated genuinely”, he stated.
