Former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has stated that the Accra High Court's decision to discharge him on February 13, 2025, confirms his long-held belief that he was unfairly targeted.
In a statement released on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, Nyantakyi expressed that the Number 12 Documentary, published by Tiger Eye PI in June 2018 to expose alleged corruption and misconduct within Ghanaian football, was nothing more than a witch-hunt with no solid evidence against him.
Per the statement, Mr Nyantakyi expressed hope that justice will prevail after the latest court ruling.
"As many may recall, I was first discharged on 11th March 2021 by Justice Comfort Tasiame, who ruled that despite having the necessary resources, the prosecution had failed to present a single witness statement after more than a year and multiple adjournments. She noted that the lack of progress in the case left the court with no option but to discharge me," the statement read.

"The journey over these years has been challenging, but I have drawn strength from the steadfast support of those who believed in me. Despite the prolonged nature of the legal process, I remained confident that justice would prevail. This latest ruling reaffirms my long-standing position that I have been unfairly targeted," it added.
While expressing his frustration over the unfair treatment, he extended heartfelt gratitude to his family, friends, and especially his legal counsel, Sory@Law, for their unwavering support throughout the five-year legal battle.
"I wish to express my sincere gratitude to my family, friends, legal counsel-Sory@Law-colleagues, and all well-wishers for their unwavering support following the recent ruling of the High Court, which discharged me from the criminal trial that commenced in March 2020. This marks the second time the High Court has discharged me in relation to this case over the past five years."
He was initially discharged in March 2021 due to witness complications and several adjournments, but was re-arraigned shortly after in another Accra High Court. In a letter expressing gratitude to his legal team, friends, and family, Nyantakyi reflected on the difficulties of the past few years.
The Number 12 exposé ultimately led to Nyantakyi’s resignation as GFA President and resulted in a FIFA ban from all football-related activities.
