IGP pledges support for Police Ladies

The National Women's League had an unlikely spectator in the Inspector General of Police (IGP) John Kudalor, who showed up to watch his team, Police Ladies, against Soccer Intellectuals at the Police Depot park on the opening day of the season last Saturday.

Despite the match ending in a goalless draw, the IGP was no doubt impressed with his side's performance and pledged to provide more support to help them make inroads in their NWL campaign this season.

"You played well but it's obvious there is more room for improvement and I think you have the ability to deliver.

“We are noted for excellence in all we do and as one of the units of the Police Service, we will provide the support you need to excel," the IGP told his team in a post-match interaction.

As expected, the opening day provided some thrills at the various league centres with defending champions, Hasaacas Ladies, clearly advertising their intention to retain the title with a 4-0 drubbing of Cape Coast-based LadyStrikers, while Northern Ladies also stunned Fabulous Ladies 1-0 at Tamale.

In other results, Immigration won 2-1 away to Halifax Ladies at the Maritime University Park, Bafana Ladies and Samaria Ladies played to a 1-1 draw at Elmina with Real Upper Ladies losing their opening home game 1-2 to visiting Ashtown Ladies.
