Inaki Williams slammed for 11-game Black Stars goal drought by former Hearts captain

Former Hearts captain and Ghana international, Yaw Amankwa Mireku, has voiced his disappointment with Atletico Bilbao star, Iñaki Williams, regarding his recent performance for the Black Stars.

While Williams has been delivering impressive displays for Bilbao this season, amassing four goals and two assists in nine appearances, his contributions for the national team have been notably lacking in the goals department.

Since his debut against Brazil on September 23, 2023, Williams has yet to find the net in a Ghanaian jersey, a drought that spans over 700 minutes of playtime.

This goalless streak, encompassing five friendlies, three matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and three African Cup of Nations qualifiers, has led Mireku to suggest his exclusion from the Black Stars.

Following a careful observation of Williams' performances in recent friendlies against Mexico and the United States of America, Mireku has argued that the player's current form doesn't warrant his retention in the national team.

"Since his debut for Ghana, what has he to show? Absolutely nothing," remarked Mireku in an interview on Happy FM. "He is yet to find the back of the net upfront, and other players also deserve a chance to demonstrate their abilities. Inaki needs to be excused from the team because in over nine appearances, he has nothing to show."
