Infuse Azonto into Stars’ repertoire - Dr Addo

A motivational speaker, Dr Michael Agyekum Addo, has challenged the technical team of the Black Stars to infuse our Azonto style of dance into their style of play to make a mark at the highest  level.

“We have entered a new century with a new revolution that calls for new methods of doing things. So for the Black Stars  to break the jinx of an African country reaching the World Cup final of final for the first time, and annexing the trophy, Coach James Akwasi Appiah and his players should blend their style of play on the field with the rhythm of our Azonto dance.

With this, they will be able to confuse their opponents, outscore them,  and win the trophy at stake for the first time,” Dr Addo, full of confidence, told the Daily Graphic during an interview in Accra last Monday.

“We have equal chances with all the countries that have qualified to play in Brazil 2014, but we have unique talents in soccer which we are yet to develop fully – the talent of blending our music and dance with soccer, or dancing with the ball on the field of play. It is likely to make great impact in Brazil 2014 if we make good use of it,” he expounded during the interview.

According to Dr Addo, the Black race has always excelled in sports at the highest level, saying that, Brazil 2014 has provided another  platform  for the Black Stars to exhibit our God-given talents.

“ If in Jamaica Usain Bolt and his compatriots are cashing in on athletics, making it possible for them to dine with kings, if in Ethiopia and Kenya, long distance runners have become famous worldwide due to how they have developed  athletics,  and the William Sisters in America, Selina and Venus, have been transformed into millionaires for developing key interest in tennis,  then we can also induce our Black Stars to win laurels, just as George Oppong Weah  did it in his heydays” he noted.

“I have much confidence in Coach Appiah and his lieutenants, but I implore them to psyche our players in a way that will induce them to introduce our own brand of soccer in Brazil, and I am certain that they will return home victorious,” he stressed.

He said winning the trophy in Brazil, or going past the semi-finals to play in the finals would open many avenues for Ghana in the areas of investment.

“This is the time for Ghana to propel the Black Stars to achieve much success, and through that, a lot of investors  will troop into the country to sustain accelerated growth of the economy through the establishment of soccer academies and  sports equipment manufacturing industries,” he said.

“We cannot afford to let the Black Stars disappoint us in Brazil 2014. This is because their success is likely to transform our economy into a vibrant one, hence the need to motivate them to excel,” he explained

“Can you imagine the socio-economic benefits that will accrue to the country if NIKE and PUMA decide to  establish  manufacturing plants in Ghana  to service the entire African continent just  because the Black Stars have made a positive impact in Brazil?  Dr Addo, who is also the Chief Executive of KAMA Group of Companies, questioned.
