Hearts Coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi

Kenichi laments bad pitches

Kenichi Yatsuhashi, technical head of Accra Hearts of Oak, says the poor state of pitches at the various league centres is the bane of the Ghanaian league as they make it less attractive compared to the situation in Europe and other countries.

According to the USA-trained coach, good football pitches are crucial to the development of the game, urging football administrators in the country to take a second look at the situation as the league gathers momentum.

“The pitches are not helping to promote the league. We can’t play the way we want to play and while our people watch the English Premier League, the Bundesliga and the La Liga, I think they will take a leaf from them.

“The reason why these players can’t play well is because the pitches are not good”, he told the Graphic Sports.

“The league is competitive but to improve the quality of the game, the pitches must become better”, he added.
