Kenichi worried over unpaid salaries

Hearts coach, Kenichi Yastuhashi, has revealed that salaries and bonuses of his players and technical staff have not been paid for months now, a situation which could affect morale in the Phobian camp.

He said the situation had reached a critical point that it could have dire consequences for the club’s campaign which started on a promising note this season.

According to him, the patience of his technical team had been stretched beyond acceptable limits as their emoluments remained outstanding since January.

“I was told by the players and assistant coaches that the situation has reached a point they can’t carry on any longer,” he wrote on his Facebook wall.

He said despite several meetings with the board to get the arrears in salary and bonus cleared, the situation had remained the same.

“Because of the situation, I have refused to accept my unpaid salaries until my players and coaches are paid,” he stated.

He took the opportunity to set the record straight on his salary, disclosing for the first time that his current monthly salary is $2,000 contrary to reports that his take home is less that $2,000 a month.

“I am very happy with our current players, and I never requested to buy new players. We have a scouting director, who is working with me, and we will have a discussion on new signings at appropriate moment, but we have not come to that point yet.”

Referring to reports that he was in talk with Kumasi Asante Kotoko, the Japanese-born American said: “It is not true that I have been contacted by Kotoko. Kotoko is one of two biggest football clubs in Ghana, and I respect them.

“My heart is with Accra Hearts of Oak. My motivation is our Hearts supporters; as long as the supporters of Hearts support me and trust me to guide our club to success; I will do and have always done my best.”
