The squad will be reduced to 18 to meet the requirements for the tournament.

Ghana opens the competition against Gambia in the preliminary round on September 9, with the winner advancing to the group stage.

Coach Konadu was made the interim coach of the Black Stars B by the Ghana Football Association(GFA) Executive Committee last week, despite failing to steer the team to next year's African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Kenya.

According to Graphic Sports sources, the decision to officially hand over the Stars B job to him was to enable Coach Kwasi Appiah to concentrate on theRussia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports, a GFA source said, "Formally the Black Stars B job has been handed over to Maxwell Konadu and he will be in charge throughout the preparation of the team towards the upcoming WAFU tournament".

"The Executive Committee of the GFA agreed to allow him take over the job substantively because of Coach Kwasi Appiah's busy schedule with the Black Stars," the source added.
