Kotoko to miss Ainooson for the rest of the season

Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s top defender, Abeiku Ainooson, has been ruled out of this season’s First Capital Plus League.

This is as a result of a damaged ligament sustained earlier during the season but the player had played with the injury throughout the first round of the competition.

However, the situation was worsened last Sunday when he played in the club’s game against Bechem United at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The former New Edubiase defender is expected to stay away for about  10 weeks to enable him to recover.

Ainooson has struggled to replicate his brilliant performance last season when he was voted the best defender on the local scene.

His injury will come as another challenge to Kotoko, who have been struggling so far in the premiership. The defending champions are eighth on the league table, nine points behind first placed AshantiGold.
