Leticia, Botha steal show at Freedom Day golf open

Leticia Amponsah-Mensah and Botha Sorossouw last Saturday emerged victors of the flagship events at the South Africa Freedom Day golf tournament held last Saturday at the Celebrity Golf Club, Sakumono, near Tema.

Playing with a handicap of 13, Leticia returned a net score of 74 to beat veteran golfer, Mona Myers-Lamptey (78 net) and Mercy Werner (78 net) to second and third place respectively in the Ladies Group A category. 

In the Men's Group A, South African national, Botha (handicap 14), shot 69 net to pip Abedi Klein (70 net) and Samuel Adjapong (70 net) who were separated on countback in second and third respectively. 

For their effort, each of the winners received a return flight ticket to Johannesburg, South Africa courtesy South African Airways.

In the ladies B category, Maureen Akuaku (handicap 30) won the day with a net of 68, ahead of Helen Appah (69 net), and Joyce Aronsen ((76 net).

Yang Fuhai also emerged tops of the Men's Group B category, pipping Oswald Amuzu on countback after they both finished with 71 net, while Tony Matthews placed third with 72 net.

The respective Ladies and Men's Longest Drive titles were won by Leticia Amponsah-Mensah and S.K. Afari, while Li De Xiang and Mona Myers Lamptey won the Closest to the Pin award.
