Man United outcast Marcus Rashford returns to team training amid Barcelona interest
A major surprise unfolded during Manchester United’s training session today as out-of-favour forward Marcus Rashford, who has been a priority winter target for Barcelona, unexpectedly participated in the session, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Red Devils gathered to prepare for their upcoming UEFA Europa League match against Rangers, and to everyone’s surprise, the 27-year-old Rashford took part in the training. There is now speculation that he could be included in Ruben Amorim’s squad for the match.
Rashford’s future at Manchester United had been in doubt, with widespread speculation that he would leave during the final days of the transfer window. He has not played for the team since December 12 and has been missing from eight of the last nine matchday squads.
Barcelona had emerged as the frontrunners to secure him on loan for the remainder of the season, with reports indicating that personal terms had already been agreed.
However, his participation in today’s training session has now introduced an element of uncertainty regarding his future.
Following Manchester United's recent 3-1 defeat to Brighton, manager Ruben Amorim acknowledged that Marcus Rashford had chosen not to play in the match, stating, “I will not select a player whom I do not believe is the best for the team.”
These remarks were widely interpreted as a signal that Rashford was on the verge of leaving the club.
On Tuesday, a meeting took place in Lisbon between Deco, Barcelona’s director of football, and agent Arturo Canales, where they discussed the possibility of Rashford’s move to the Spanish club.
“We are working on resolving the ‘fair play’ issue. If we can ultimately strengthen the team, we will try, but as of today, there is nothing,” Deco remarked.
With uncertainty surrounding Rashford’s potential inclusion in the upcoming Europa League clash against Rangers, his future remains uncertain, and it is unclear whether he will make the move to Barcelona.
