At a press conference at the MTN headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, where he was presented with the SWAG Sports Personality and Footballer of the Year awards, the Swansea midfielder said his attention now would be focused on winning laurels for Ghana.

“I have won a lot in my young career but I haven’t won enough. For me, there are some few trophies which are very important and for our country and until I accomplish that, I have so much more to do,” he added.

Mr Kwabena Yeboah, the SWAG President, who congratulated the player, expressed the hope he would follow in the trails of his legendary father, Abedi Pele, who lifted African football to an enviable height.

“I want to congratulate Ayew on his honours. We all know how big the name of his father is in World football and I hope he would build momentum and, just like his dad, grow up to win the African Best Player,” he added.
