Medeama SC midfielder, Prince Owusu, has revealed that his ultimate dream is to help Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, win the FIFA World Cup.
The 21-year-old, who earned a surprise call-up to the national team for the recent World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros, said the experience had further motivated him to work harder to become a permanent member of the squad.
Speaking to his club’s official website, Owusu described his first national team invitation as a pleasant surprise, which was warmly celebrated by his teammates at Medeama.
“My target is to be part of the squad that will be going to the World Cup so we can win the trophy for Ghana,” Owusu said. “It was a surprise to be invited, but it was also a big motivation for me. I want to work even harder so the coaches can trust me with more opportunities.”
The promising midfielder emphasised that he would not be complacent following his national team debut, but would continue to improve to impress the technical team.
Reflecting on his first experience in camp, Owusu said he was not intimidated by the presence of senior players, praising them for their guidance and encouragement.
“I felt very comfortable in camp because the senior players were very supportive. Alidu Seidu was especially encouraging and advised me on how to adapt quickly,” he revealed.
He also commended Jordan Ayew for his mentorship, saying the Leicester City forward played a key role in helping him to settle into the team.
