After Match Day 9 over the weekend, last year's winners, Hasaacas and Ampem Darkoa, have reclaimed the lead in their respective zones.

Results over the weekend, have left some contenders disappointed as they have lost ground, to allow their challengers to overtake or catch up.

Southern Zone which was a hot contest between Hasaacas Ladies and Soccer Intellectuals, interestingly, saw Hasaacas winning 3-1 against Bafana Ladies and thus giving them an edge over Soccer Intellectuals who were surprisingly beaten 1-0 away to Samaria Ladies.

Prisons Ladies had hoped to reclaim the top spot with their 3-0 win against Subayo Golden Ladies but Ampem Darkoa's 1-0 away win against Real Upper Ladies at Wa handed them the advantage with better goal.

Police were also 2-0 winners against visiting Halifax, LadyStrikers beat Immigration 2-0, while Fabulous won 2-0 against Lepo Ladies. Northern Ladies and Ashtown Ladies drew 2-2.

The win has pushed Hasaacas back to the top, now leading with 18 points, LadyStrikers have assumed the second position with 17 points, pushing the Match Day 8 leaders, Soccer Intellectuals to third place with 16 points with Police Ladies (15), Bafana Ladies (11), Samaria Ladies eight), Immigration (seven) and Halifax (four) in that order.

Northern zone is even tighter as three clubs, Ampem Darkoa, Prisons Ladies and Northern Ladies, all share 19 points but seperated by goals difference. Ashtown Ladies (17), Fabulous Ladies (16), Lepo Ladies (11), Real Upper Ladies (three) and Subayo Golden Ladies (0) follow in that perking order.

With one each to be relegated from both zones, the fight in the remaining five matches will not just be among those craving to be champions, but also one to avoid being caught in the relegation net, though it's obvious Subayo and Halifax are likely to be axed.

The NWL takes a break this weekend to allow the Round of 32 matches of the Women's FA Cup to be honoured.
